The sunflowers are still braving the early autumn mists, briefly glowing in the sunlight before it is softened by another rolling cloud of dewy vapour.
The entire valley was filled with low cloud this morning; visibility was down to a few feet until I emerged onto the hillside above. What a view!
Dropping back down into the valley felt strange, colours hazy, outlines dulled where moments before they had been clear.
From outside my parents' house I watched great scads of white pouring like liquid nitrogen along the opposite hillside, catching on trees as if they were made of a substance more tangible than water droplets.
All very inspiring stuff. In fact, yesterday I went on a lino- and wood-cutting printmaking course with Jo Westgate at The Garden Station. This is my very very first attempt at a woodcut, and I am just a little chuffed at how it turned out.
I hope that once the splinters and cuts on my hands have healed I might try and make another woodcut, and when I do I will take my inspiration from today's weather.
Wonderful photos, there is great weather to capture at this time of year isn't there?
ReplyDeleteWell done with the wood cut, I would love to have a go one day, you made a good job, maybe you could print some for Christmas presents or cards?
