Thinking Back and Looking Forward

I have begun working in my studio. It is liberating being able to spread my wool top out whilst I work.

My current project even allows me to coordinate my carded top mixes with my tea breaks. Genius.

Today was lovely. Chris and I have been walking together most days this week, and this evening we headed up the valley, sat on our favourite bench together, then walked slowly back down the hill homewards.

I collected some flowers from the hedgerows (only a couple of thistle sprigs and some cow parsley; I leave the rare stuff alone) and Chris found me the bird's egg whilst I was taking pictures of the valley. I am introducing a bit of colour into my studio at last.

My mum gave me this book as a new studio gift. It is a gorgeous compendium of autobiographical writing carefully bound up with the most fabulous illustrations by one of my favourite authors. I grew up on the Alfie and Annie Rose stories Shirley Hughes wrote and illustrated.

I have had a rollicking good time in my studio and the hills this week, and better yet, three years ago tomorrow is a very special day for Chris and I...
