and here are the cupcakes I made for the occasion. Honestly, you can't beat a good cupcake.
Whilst we have been enjoying some rare Northumbrian sunshine, I took a day trip to Corbridge for some colour inspiration. Corbridge is a fab town to mooch about in, with oodles of independent shops, gorgeous tea rooms and splendid views. And stripy walls, too.
I saw this magnificently blowsy pair as I ambled along the hawthorn-lined road from Corbridge train station.
Also this week, I have done a spot of time travelling. Yes, I went to bed on Tuesday aged 23, and woke up a whole year older - in only one night - on Wednesday. I am 24.
I had a fantastic day. Chris provided the floral accents:
and I finally managed to get out into the bare front garden and plant out some of the things I've had in pots for years. From right-left, I planted: a strange bush variety honeysuckle, golden hop, climbing yellow rose, jasmine, climbing honeysuckle. Oh, and a couple of sunflowers. And a campanula. It will look amazing.
Art Tour is now just over the horizon, as it kicks off tomorrow morning. Come to Studio 20 on any Saturday or Sunday in June to see my latest, gloriously colourful, tremendously tactile felt objects, PLUS felt pictures inspired by th garden. Not a felt fanatic? Christina Mingard's ever popular acrylic paintings are also on show, plus giclee prints, cards and a veritable treasure trove of gifts.
Not enough? I am also going to be teaching feltmaking for beginners at MAKE on Saturday 10th July. Book with Katie to avoid disappointment!
