When I began this blog, it was with the intention of writing about my work, and though describing Art Tour definitely falls into that category, I want to explain how and why I do what I do.
I am a visual sort of person. The one who always has a camera primed and at the ready. This is how I find my inspiration. Felt is my medium, so I can't just strap an easel across my back, pick up a paint box and head for the hills. I have to bring my ideas home and work on them indoors.
I am always on the lookout for interesting colours, textures and shapes.
Often a photograph will be destined for use, only to be superseded by something entirely different. More frequently, I will spot some small detail in a photo I have taken almost by accident, like the way water becomes almost solid and glasslike as it ripples across a barely submerged stone.
Or I will be surprised by how many shades of green there are, even when it's raining.
Sometimes it is simply a case of find a subject, and make it into felt.

At other times, I compose elements of a photograph into my preferred image.

However I begin, I am constantly surprised by what I end up with.
beautiful felted pieces, so inspired by nature - really nice work!
