Guarding the Frontier, Or, How to Walk Off Sunday Lunch

Well it is Easter Sunday today, so we decided to join the masses and head outside for a chocolate-fuelled adventure in the wilds of the Northumbrian countryside.

First, we went to this fabulous cave of wonders, where am sorry to say I forgot to take any photos. The best thing to do therefore is to go and visit it yourself.

Next, we headed on over to the house I grew up in, teamed up with three fifths of my immediate family, plus my grandma and auntie and sauntered out to this charming hostelry for lunch, which we then had to walk off here:

The light was stunning!

Look at the extravagance of lichen growing on Hadrian's Wall! It is simply delightful.

And in the distance, a strikingly rusty-looking farm building caught the light (and my eye) as we looked down from the top of Steelrigg.

Hooray for spring weather!
